Cinco de Mayo is traditionally celebrated in the town of Puebla, where Mexico’s victory over the French empire happened in 1862. Here in Birmingham, José Medina Camacho and Jesús Méndez are celebrating Cinco de Mayo at Adiõs and Salud Taqueria. Both men are originally from Mexico, having immigrated to northern Alabama in the early ‘90s, and they’ve created beautiful spaces that offer delicious craft cocktails and highlight the history and complexity of Mexican spirits and food.

Cinco de Mayo at Salud Taqueria
Celebrate with back-to-back nights of DJ 4lonso and drink specials at Salud Taqueria. The festivities kick off on Sunday, May 4, with a Cinco de Mayo pre-celebration Industry Night from 6 to 9 p.m., featuring DJ sets, drinks, and taco specials. The main event is on Monday, May 5, with more music and drink specials from 7 to 11 p.m.
Cinco de Mayo at Adiõs
The team at Adiõs also will be celebrating all weekend long through Monday with an exclusive menu featuring top-shelf tequila cocktails—made with delicious, authentic ingredients—and a live DJ.

Thank you, Ivan Lara, Ginnard Archibald & Mason Erwin for photos of the drinks!
